More overview. Less effort. Better decisions.

Automatic

Continuous monitoring, without staff having to assess every animal individually.

No sensor on the animal

Camera-based monitoring without transponders or wearables on every cow.

Per individual animal

Every animal is identified and assessed individually, not just the herd as a whole.

Ready to use

Results are available digitally and can be used in your herd management.

How COW PROTECTOR works

Camera captures the animals

The camera unit monitors the cows at a suitable passageway in the barn.

AI identifies the individual cow

ACARiS identifies the individual animal, without sensors or markings on the animal.

Health parameters are analysed

The AI assesses the movement and body-related characteristics of the animal.

Results are available digitally

Results and trends per animal can be viewed on smartphone, tablet and PC.

One system. Two important health parameters.

COW PROTECTOR uses cameras and artificial intelligence to identify every individual animal and record relevant health parameters automatically. Without sensors on the animal, without restraining, without extra work in the barn.

Lameness Detection
Detect lameness automatically

COW PROTECTOR analyses the gait of every individual cow and makes relevant changes visible.

  • Movement analysis as the cow passes
  • Real-time score from 1 to 5
  • Trend per animal you can follow
  • Less manual scoring
Body Condition ScoringNEW
Record body condition score automatically

COW PROTECTOR assesses the body condition of every individual cow and makes changes over time visible.

  • Automatic BCS assessment
  • Data per individual animal
  • Development over time
  • Less manual effort

“We are always one step ahead of the problems.”

“The biggest change COW PROTECTOR brought? We are always one step ahead of the problems. Instead of only reacting to symptoms, we prevent them. Lameness caught early saves treatment time and cost, and keeps the cow in the herd.”

Klaus Dieter Augustin
Dairy farm, COW PROTECTOR partner farm

“Subtle changes are picked up in real time.”

“With the ACARiS COW PROTECTOR we use an AI-supported camera that records the gait of every cow without transponders or restraining, and picks up subtle changes in real time. When the system detects a deviation in walking behaviour, it reports that automatically.”

Does COW PROTECTOR fit my barn?

Five points decide. We check them together with you and take care of the entire installation.

Have your installation checked

01 Camera positioning

Ideally after the milking parlour above the return lane, at a height of 3 to 4.5 metres.

02 Walkway requirements

A straight, level and well-lit walkway 5 to 6 metres long.

03 Animal flow

The cows walk through the lane one at a time as far as possible, without backing up.

04 Internet connection

A stable connection with at least 500 kBit/s upload, alternatively via Starlink.

05 Stress-free installation

ACARiS handles the entire installation, tailored to the conditions on your farm.

Key questions at a glance

Do my cows need sensors?

No. COW PROTECTOR works purely camera-based. No transponders, collars or pedometers are needed on the animal.

How does COW PROTECTOR identify individual animals?

The AI identifies each individual cow by its appearance, without intrusive sensors or markings on the animal.

Where is the camera installed?

Ideally after the milking parlour above the return lane, at a height of 3 to 4.5 metres with a clear view of the walkway.

Which health parameters are recorded?

Currently lameness detection from 1 to 5 as well as body condition scoring. Both parameters are recorded for each individual animal.

Where do I see the results?

In the COW PROTECTOR dashboard, available on smartphone, tablet and PC. The results can be used further in your herd management: there is a direct data exchange with Herde+ from dsp-Agrosoft.

Can COW PROTECTOR be retrofitted in existing barns?

Yes. What matters is a suitable passageway. The installation is tailored to the conditions on your farm.

Your question is not listed?

Let us find out how COW PROTECTOR fits your barn.

We look at your passageway, clarify the requirements and show you the dashboard with real data.
